Saint Homobonus was a married laymen who beleived that God allowed him to work in order to support people in poverty. As a cloth merchant, he carried out his business with laudable honesty and though quite sucessful, lived and dressed with simplicity and attended Matins and daily Mass. He died in 1197 and was canonized in 1199, and is consider the patron saint of tailors, business people, clothing workers and shoemakers.
