Eulogy For Bishop O’Gara

Archbishop Fulton Sheen gives an impressive eulogy for Bishop Cuthbert M. O’Gara – who heroically survived being imprisoned in China. “There he lies like a commando soldier who smashed the last defense of the enemy and stands gasping before the general saying, ‘mission accomplished.'” Given May 17, 1968, at St. Michael’s Monastery Church, Union City, Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen called Bishop O’Gara “a dry martyr” because of his prison experience in China from 1951-1953. Archbishop Sheen used Bishop O’Gara as an example of an individual who “can pass the breaking point and not break.”
