Father Joseph Illo explains that the priest is formed by the Mass, for better or worse. Drawing on the story of his own vocation and experience as a parish priest, Father offers hope and a long-term vision of how we can counter today’s grave crisis in the priesthood. In a day and age when Truth and Goodness are rejected by almost everyone in the culture, it is by sharing especially the Beauty of the traditional Mass that we can begin the restoration of the Church and the World. In an important way, the beauty of the traditional Mass comes specifically from the Law that governs it. Father Joseph Illo graduated B.A. in philosophy from the Pontifical University of St. Thomas (the Angelicum) in Rome. He studied at St. Joseph’s Seminary, New York and was ordained in 1991 for the Diocese of Stockton. He has been pastor of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Modesto, chaplain at Thomas Aquinas College and is currently pastor of Star of the Sea parish in San Francisco.
