St. Aelred

Saint Aelred was a Cistercian monk and abbot who was a companion of King David of Scotland and advisor to King Henry II of England. He was a successful missionary to the Picts and is known for his remarkable sermons and biography of St Edward the Confessor. He lived a austere life and suffered many infirmities with patience and died in 1166.
