St. Isaac Jogues and St. Francis of Assisi

St. Isaac Jogues was considered a living martyr upon his return to France due to the severe mutilation of his hands by the Iroquois, and when he returned to New France, after just six months, he was killed tomahawk to the head.
St. Francis of Assisi turned from a life of chivalry and frivolous carousing to being a model of poverty in imitation of Christ. He traveled to the holy land, began the tradition of the Nativity scene and founded the Franciscan Order. Towards the end of his remarkable life received the stigmata and is one of the most venerated saints in history.
