Saint Theophone Venaard was a French missionary martyr who suffered beheading in Tonkin Vietnam in 1861. Ministering from hiding he was ultimately betrayed, condemned, and held in a cage until his execution. He wrote beautiful letters to his family and  family and faced coming his death with exemplary faith.
